HSY Graduation Question

Regarding HSY graduation, if my sim graduates and moves out, would this prevent them from getting their diploma mailed to them and the game registering them as having graduated? The reason I ask is because I have a sim who graduated valedictorian attended graduation got her diploma but the game keeps sending her notifications about graduation and the option to ask is still in her pie menu along with graduation still showing up on the calendar. When my sim aged to a young adult I had her move out. But she still attended graduation. I then had her attend again three sim weeks after she graduated to see if it would fix and it didn’t. I’ve also done a repair of the game and I have no mods. Any suggestions?

  • @candiecoatediv   Hi!  Sorry, I'm a little confused about what's happening in your game.  In my experience, when I've had sims age up, the diploma was sent to the household they were in before moving out.  If they moved out before the graduation ceremony, I did not get an option to attend the ceremony at all.  I've only gotten that option when my sim aged up and stayed in their childhood household.  For example, my sim Nancy aged up and graduated as the Valedictorian.  In the simology panel, I can see she has the Valedictorian trait.

I went back to her parents' home, had one of her parents get the mail, and found Nancy's diploma was in their household inventory.  I don't know of a way to get her diploma to her.  However, I can go into Build Buy on her home lot and purchase a Valedictorian diploma for 75 simoleons.

    I hope this helps!

@JonaO703In my sims panel it shows valedictorian but every Sunday she gets a notification (event) that graduation is starting. She’s gone to graduation twice and each time has received a diploma in hand at graduation but the game for some reason is not picking up the fact that she’s already graduated and she keeps getting the notifications. Also when I have my sim click on another sim to have a conversation the high school graduation ask about graduation keeps popping up as an option. For this sim she moved out the day she aged up. Graduation was the following Sunday. And each Sunday in the calendar there is a graduation event. Idk it’s weird. She’s getting ready to age into an adult so hopefully it goes away.

also - I forgot the diploma goes to household inventory. Thank you!

@candiecoatediv   That's so weird.  Your problem is almost the opposite of mine.  My sim does not get a ceremony at all if she moves out on her own ... Your sim gets a ceremony every week! lol

I did some searching but did not find another thread that matches what you're seeing.  This game is so weird sometimes.  I too hope that your sim will stop graduating every week when she ages up.

@JonaO703 I know right?! lol. She aged up no more notifications but now her daughter (young adult) and her daughter’s boyfriend now have a notification every week. Both graduated, got diplomas too. I think the graduation itself is glitched bc it literally takes hours (sim hours) for the event to complete. The principal doesn’t give out the diplomas. He has multiple conversations with random sims not graduating. Walks around, sits down, fills the punch bowl. Everything except hand out diplomas. So I have to have my sims request their diplomas by clicking on the principal. I think the next generation I’m going to forego graduation lol.

@candiecoatediv   I've had mixed experiences with the graduation ceremony itself.  They mostly go well but occasionally it glitches and it's really infuriating.  lol

I hate to ask the dreaded question but I feel compelled ... do you have any mods installed and, if so, have you tested without them?  Just wondering if a mod might be doing something weird to cause your sims to keep getting the notifications.

@JonaO703 Sorry I thought i mentioned but no mods. Completely Vanilla game. I am however playing in a save I created but no mods in that save. And nothing special about it. None while I was creating it. I used the same sim as my tester just moved her around. Aging and neighborhood stories off. I do however now that I’m playing in it, aging on normal for all except played household is set to no auto age. So I age them up when I’m ready for them to move on in the story. Everyone else around them is aging fine. I also only have the one active household in my households tab. Even the first two generations have been moved over to my other household tab so they can continue on with their lives. (Gen one continued having children until the household was filled). But I can’t think of anything else.
