Merging mods/cc

Hey guys ! I have a question does merging all my mods/cc’s using the sims 4 studios will actually help with the loading time ? Did anyone do it ? Do you recommend it ? Thanks 🙂

  • @nadineabdoun When people were testing this several years ago, it didn't improve load time. A few people say it does, but I'll note below why it's a bad idea anyway.

    If your issue is game load time, when launching Sims 4, go to Options > Other and turn off the option to show mods and CC on loading.

    Here's why you shouldn't merge files:

    • When a mod or CC item is reported broken, you won't be able to see that you have it. It won't show up in search, and reading through your folder won't show it.
    • When you're doing a 50-50 to find the item breaking your game, you'll find a merged folder of lots of stuff that you'll then have to unmerge to test
    • If you download an update of a CC item, you'll end up with a duplicate or you'll have to find where you put it and unmerge that file
    • If you accidentally download content you already own, you'll end up with duplicates, and that is a lag cause.

    Hey guys!
    so I recently did the whole Mods and CC transfer to my SSD but the load time is soooo long ! I thought switching to an SSD would help but still nothing.. I do have a lot of kids around 45k but I asked before which ssd reads the fastest and someone suggested the Samsung T7 but I see no difference any tips on how to make it load faster ? I heard merging mods helps but not recommended. Anything else ?
    thanks! 🙂

    I recommended the Samsung T7 to you here https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/Sims-4-ssd-suggestions/m-p/13175496 as a good, fast, external drive, which it is. However, storing your Mods on an external drive will never result in faster loading times. The fastest read/write speeds will be when using the internal drive.

    In this other thread of yours I recommended you store other files and folders on the external https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/Combine-two-ssds/m-p/13220340#M58599

    Your slow loading time is most probably down to the sheer number of 3rd party files you are loading into your game. 45,000 files is going to take a long time to load even on a fast machine, Mac or Windows.

    Hi @Bluebellflora !

    I only have my sims 4 files stored on that external drive other files are either on the MacBook itself or another hard drive ! So there’s sadly no way in minimizing the loading time ? No solutions right?

    @nadineabdoun

    Correct. No other solutions because you have such a large amount of 3rd party content which is the problem. Cull your CC and your loading times will speed up.
