[mod-related] Game launches to black screen with main-menu words but no picture

I had the same issue and it was just broken mods. Despite more than half of my CC folder not showing up in the game ATM, I still did the 50/50 method and was able to figure out what mods were giving me the black screen and what mods/CC were giving me the error message when trying to open the game.

For the blackout screen, it was the UI cheats mod and then the error messages i got with some cc I have from pralinesims 

You all are lucky, hell, I can't even see my screen because it is all blacked out. I am surprised it even loaded..

Yeah the game is straight up broken for anyone who had any mods/CC installed. This is a huge break in fundamental function of even base game (I had also removed mods/CC onto desktop to fix which usually works and found my game broken too!!). Updates that break base function of your game???? From a coding perspective, that's actually ridiculous. Almost impressive 😂😂

I've just had 3/4 of my CC removed post update as well. I'm seeing many complaints about this now. Also really long loading times? It looks like this broke the game differently for everybody.

I can't even get that far. mine is buffering at the first screen and when I go to force quit my mac confirms that sims is "not responding"

An update: I removed all mods in my folder (Except MCCC because I wanted to test today's tandem update) and that has my game up and running again, so it appears that at least in some cases mods may be effecting it. I know that doesn't account for other reports in this thread from folks who DON'T use mods, though.

Same here, I tried enabling mods again after the update (my mistake), and now I can't even load back into the game to turn them off. I even tried a full reinstall, still getting stuck here 

I get stuck with the first loading screen into the game but don’t even get to the part where the sims 4 logo appears if that makes sense. And the one time I actually got into the game, it was so bugged out that I didn’t wanna risk playing with any families and decided to exit, but after hitting save and exit game i get stuck with a frozen screen and end up having to force quitting the game. 

I am having the same issue, both with and without mods. I do not even have the options menu to toggle anymore. I do not receive any error messages, and have already tried repairing my game as well. Here is a screenshot of what I get if the game decides to launch:

Clicking the buttons does not work, esc key does not pull up buttons, etc. The window is fully unresponsive.
