[MOD RELATED] Sims all get same name in CAS

I have two teen sims, and when I entered CAS to look at the new update options, I noticed that neither of the teens' names showed properly. It showed both the teens with their father's name in the bo...

    This issue appears to be connected to Sims who had custom preferences. (See Solved: CAS infinite loading screen after 23. 07. update - Answer HQ about these.)

    Please try the following steps:

    1. Remove all custom preference (likes/dislikes) mods and related mods, including (for now) updated ones, and including those that Zerbu's new mod covers
    2. Remove larger mods that include custom preferences (such as WonderfulWhim, BetterSims, Have Some Personality Please, Paws & Claws)
    3. Delete the localthumbcache file
    4. Back up your Saves folder
    5. Repair the game in the EA App (or do the equivalent fix in Steam, if you're a Steam player).
    6. Restart the game and load up your problem household in CAS
    7. If this works, please let me knkow, and please let me know which preferences-related mods you had, especially if you know which were used on your Sims.

    If you're struggling to find all the mods that might be candidates for this, I advise removing any larger mod systems that haven't been cleared for the patch. I don't expect to have time to look at mod lists to help you find candidates.

    If you have this issue but have never used mods before, please let me know.

@walabaloo22 @Terinka1235567 @grantbrandy Could you please try this, which helped the OP of the thread I've moved you into?

  1. Move/drag your Mods folder to your desktop or rename it
  2. Copy over your Saves folder if you want a backup in case you save without CC
  3. Delete the localthumbcache file
  4. Start Sims, and open your save to see if the problem with the names is gone
  5. Copy your mods and CC (but not your old Resource.cfg file) to the new Mods folder
  6. Restart Sims, and reopen your save to see if the problem with the names has stayed gone

Please let me know if that works for you also. If #4 works and #6 doesn't, it's time to do a 50-50 of your Mods folder, and I'd be very interested in finding out what mod it was.

I appreciate the help but I’ve done each of these steps several times over and it didn’t help. Sometimes I can get into CAS and sometimes I can’t. I never know when or what method will freeze the game.

      I have seen dozens of people that do not have mods that are having the same issues as I am with the create a Sim. This is a bug in their update, not a mod’s issue as I said I’ve already removed my mods and the game itself wouldn’t even load. I have done every single troubleshooting I could and lost every single save that I’ve had because of this update. I’ve been playing since it came out and almost every major update breaks my games, whether I have mods or not.

      I had to completely start over and that was the only way I could even get into the game Now the names are all messed up in create a SIM and it keeps giving all Sims, not just teens the same name.

      I appreciate the help and advice, but I have tried all of it

        @grantbrandy Tell them to post, then. We can't find a bug if people don't post. Especially people who have never had mods/CC.

      I seem to have a problem with the sim customisation. I tried opening up the likes and dislikes but it doesn't appear as seen below. My sim's name should also appear when uploading them from the gallery, but it is empty instead. I have to type in their name and surname again. But that same name appears in the other sim if I have more than one uploaded. I did try and attempted to rename one of the sims in CAS once I realised I had two sims with the same name in the same household when I started playing the game, but the loading screen just never stopped. I seriously need help on these problems. I've already tried repairing the game, but no luck.

      I noticed a bug where randomly my two sims would have the same name as each other. I was able to reproduce the issue again today. What happens is I tell my sim to go to the dresser and "change sim." Then when I go in everything is fine, but then I switch to my other sim in the CAS menu, and suddenly the name and likes/dislikes match the original sim in this menu. If I go into CAS via "change sim" and keep to the one sim the issue does not happen. Also if I cancel out of CAS, the issue doesn't stick.

      Note: I have no mods and pretty much all expansions/dlc except for most kits and lovestruck. This has happened on a few families on this one game.
