@PitaParty Does your keyboard work properly if you have no mods in-game? If so, then the issue is one or more of your mods, and you'll need to test them to find out which one(s).
Sims 4 won't read mods in .zip form. You need to extract them first, which Windows can do all by itself. Right-click the file to see the option.
