[NOT BUG] [ECO] Cannot Perform Eco Upgrades (Missing Upgrade Parts)

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:Mac
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.63.134.1220
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Eco lifestyle, University, City Living, Get Together, Cats and Dogs, Get to Work, Seasons, Dine Out, Holiday Celebration Pack
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Obtain 2 eco upgrade parts, click a sink and select upgrade
What happens when the bug occurs? Upgrades that require eco upgrade parts still appear grayed out even though my sim has the correct number of eco upgrade parts in their inventory
What do you expect to see? The upgrade that I have the correct amount of parts for should be white and clickable so that my sim can perform the upgrade
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

My sim has 2 eco upgrade parts, but the upgrades that require 1 and 2 eco upgrade parts are still not available.  I have tried this with and without my cc installed, and it still doesn't work.  I don't not have any script mods installed to my game.

Edit By Crinrict: Adjusted Title

  • As others have said, it's not a bug. The tooltip is just confusing, but it works the same way as the other upgrades in the game. The tooltip is telling you how many parts you're missing. So if it says 2 parts, you're still missing 2 parts.

Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.65.70.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All Expansions except Island Living and Get Together. All game packs except Jungle Adventure, Vampires, and Strangerville. All stuff packs except Spooky, Backyard, Perfect Patio, Cool Kitchen, Bowling Night, My First Pet Stuff, and Luxury Party
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Play Eco Lifestyle Pack, have a sim craft several Eco Upgrade Parts and keep them in inventory, have the sim try to make an eco upgrade.
What happens when the bug occurs? Ability to make an eco upgrade is grayed out and when you hover over it it says that you do not have enough eco upgrade parts
What do you expect to see? I expect to be able to make eco upgrades when I have enough eco upgrade parts to do it
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

This is just the latest bug of many that occurred after I purchased Eco Lifestyle.  This one could be from the stuff packs I just bought because they were on sale, but I doubt it. In case it matters I just bought the Kids Room and Tiny Living stuff packs.

@latrese2 Merged your post with existing thread.

The message tells you how many you still need, not the total.
  • I thought that might be the problem, but when I made more, I got the same exact message.

@janyses Thing is, it doesn't always tell you. Sometimes it says as in the picture, 2 Eco-upgrade Parts (missing), sometimes it will just say "You do not have enough eco parts" and won't tell you how many more you need.

Can one of you post a screenshot of the tooltip that doesn't tell you how many parts are needed? That sounds like a slightly different problem.

@PsychotpsAhh, I see. It appears that this information is missing from the recycler only, so this must be an oversight. I checked the other upgradeable items and couldn't find any others. Five eco parts are needed, by the way.

@latrese2Is the recycler the object you're having trouble upgrading? And if so, have you tried with at least 5 eco parts in inventory?

  • @crinrict This is still a problem because it said It required to eco parts when I had no eco parts now I have two and It still says I need two.
