Before today's patch, I wasn't able to get my game to launch at all without disabling all cc/mods. It would read "unable to launch game" as many others have noted in their bug reports. As of today, since the patch, the game launches! Except the home screen is blacked out, with only the left-side menu font visible. Even after accessing the main menu, the game will not load via resume, load, new save, etc. This is such a mess that I can't even get a screenshot of the main menu.
How on earth does a billion-dollar company have so many game-breaking updates and then require patches for said updates? Does EA just not bother to see if these updates and patches affect their UI overall, let alone try playtesting? Customers are spending hundreds of dollars for a game that is unable to work with the majority of the updates, which isn't just upsetting, it is flat-out insulting.

Hi Gambler91A
sounds like an outdated UI mod issue so how did you remove your mods/cc ? Did you delete the localthumbcache file and move the mods folder to the desktop ?
Could you maybe post a screenshot ?

I hear and understand your frustration. I am equally upset about it. I think I spend more time fixing my game than I am actually playing it. And yeah, it feels rotten to spend all this money to fix more than play. Further frustration comes from these paysites hiding behind "donation subscriptions" so that when I try to update a mod I've had for years, it's suddenly something I have to pay for.
Personally, I think they need to DL some of the mods we do and playtest with those first (at least the big ones like MCCC and WW and other UI mods) before releasing the game so at least we can get a bit of a warning.
These constant game breaking updates are enough to want to throw your computer out the window sometimes. I get it. And the last thing you want to hear, even though they are trying to help, is "have you tried to update your mods?" like it's OUR problem that our game broke. It's infuriating. Just wanted to let you know I hear you and empathize. I'm currently having to check every mod (which I have and still don't have a clue what's wrong due to saving issues) and that's all I'm getting back so I'm lost right now.
I hope you can get your game up and running soon. Happy fixing. *toast*

Duck1919Fraser The issue in this thread is caused only by mods. If you have a different issue, test with an empty Mods folder before using tech support or bug reports. Those parts of the forums send a lot of people to this part because they either didn't test with no mods first or their issue is, like this one, obviously mods.
EA will never, ever test 18+ mods. They will change UI and break UI mods; they know those will break, but they aren't going to avoid new features because of this. They ultimately are not responsible for mods needing updates, any more than any other game studio is.
Part of being a mod user is accepting that sometimes you'll need to update or remove mods. That's not on EA or any other game studio to avoid for you.
As for updates being locked behind paywalls, please let me know if you find this for anything on the Broken and Updated Mods and CC list.
