Removing mods folder before update

Hi all! I read that it’s better to remove the entire mods folder before a patch update but do I need to do this if all my script mods for the patch are updated? Or is it better to remove script mods and CC even if script mods are updated and then put it back in after?

if I do remove all CCs, will the sims remain as I left them after I re-enable mods/cc?

thanks in advance!

Your Mods and CC can not be updated before the patch as the authors needs to have it before they can update them so that part of your question is moot.

If you do load a game with stuff missing then as long as you do not save the game everything will be back when you replace all mods/CC. If you do save the change will be permanent and you must manually reapply everything.

jpkarlsen sorry for the confusion but i meant that i already have all the updated mods for the patch in a folder and ready to be placed into the mods folder once I update my game to the most recent patch. But im wondering if I should move out my entire mods folder prior to updating then putting in the updated mods after if that makes sense
