Screen turns black on startup

Hi,

I just put my Sims 4 on a hard drive with mods and everything and I just reinstalled it. However, whenever I try to play, the loading screen is black. I’m pretty sure it’s a mod or a cc but I tried lastexception and it won’t tell me much. Does anyone have any advice?

  • @amora920  The fastest way to find out if the issue is a mod or cc item is to test without them, as in, move the entire Mods folder out of your Sims 4 folder and see whether the game loads.  If it does, you'll need to test your mods and cc; the 50/50 method is the most efficient way.

If the game doesn't load even with no mods or cc, try moving the entire Sims 4 folder elsewhere, or renaming it, whichever you prefer.  When you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  Don't add anything to it until you've confirmed that you can play a new save; after that, you can start transferring files and testing.

If the clean folder doesn't help either, please post the method you used to move the game to your hard drive.
