Sims 4 action cancellation

On August 27th, 9:30pm, I tried to play the Sims 4. Whenever I tried to have my sim do an action, they would hold up their hand as if they're holding a book but there is nothing in their hand. They repeatedly cancel the action when I retried to do the command. One sim repeatedly cancelled the action, retried it themself, and then cancelled it again over and over. I restarted my game and restarted the EA application, but when I got back on, a different sim was doing the same thing. What is going on and what do I need to do? I hope this is enough info.
