Please open Terminal and copy and paste the following search command then hit Enter/Return:
find ~ -type d -name "*Mods*" 2>/dev/null
After a little while it will return the results of the search. Please copy and paste the results in a post here.
Also, you shouldn't have copies in your Mods folder, save them somewhere else.

thank you, but running the terminal didn't do anything, as the results only showed up as 'null', however i fixed this issue by uninstalling the sims, moving the sims 4 folder back into electronic arts, and repairing the game. BUT, now there's a new issue, which is CAS taking insanely long to load. i have left my computer on overnight, and the CAS loading screen is still there, and i'm not able to edit any of my sims.

The issue with CAS, are you playing a clean game or have you added your Mods and saves back into the Sims 4 folder?
