Sims 4 Custom Presets and Sliders Reset to Default in Gameplay
Subject: Male Sims 4 Custom Presets and Sliders Reset to Default in Gameplay
Platform: PC
Game Version: 1.107.151.1020
Issue Description:
I am experiencing a persistent issue with The Sims 4 where male Sims presets and custom features reset to the default EA settings upon entering gameplay. This problem began a few days ago, since the new update, and affects only male Sims.
Expected Result:
The Sim should retain all custom features created in CAS during gameplay.
Actual Result:
The Sim’s frame and features reset to the default EA settings once in gameplay.
The steps I have taken to address this issue include:
Removing All Mods: I removed all mods and custom content to test if the issue persisted with just the base game and presets. The problem still occurred.
Clearing Cache: I deleted the localthumbcache.package file and other cache files from the Sims 4 folder.
Repairing the Game: I used the EA App to repair the game files.
Reinstalling the Game: I completely uninstalled and reinstalled The Sims 4, including re-downloading mods and presets.
Testing Without Custom Content: I created a new game without any custom content except for the presets. The issue still persisted.
Updating Mods: I ensured all mods and presets were updated to their latest versions.
Testing Specific Presets: I tested various presets individually to identify any specific problematic files, but the issue continued regardless of the preset used.
Additional Information:
The issue does not affect female Sims.
I have tried using different male Sim presets from various creators, but the problem persists.
I have confirmed that all custom content is compatible with the latest game update.
When joining an existing game and using the cas.fulleditmode cheat to create a new Sim, the custom presets and sliders work correctly, and the Sim retains the custom features in gameplay.
I am unable to use Sims created earlier and saved in my Gallery; they also reset to the default settings when placed into gameplay.
Community Feedback:
I have checked community forums and found that a few other players have reported similar issues, but no definitive solution has been identified.
I would appreciate a solution to this issue, since this is really frustrating. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Hi @Lissi123Lissi Two more things here, please:
1. Are you in DX9 or DX11? If you're in DX11, have you tested in DX9?
2. Please test in a new user folder: Drag the whole The Sims 4 folder to the desktop, restart the game, and exit. Test one single preset that's not on a Broken list and let me know which one you're testing with; don't install any other mods. Please test in a new save. If it works, please exit, copy over one old save, and retest.
I will note that mods not working isn't considered a game bug, so there could end up not being something that gets done for this. Assuming it's replicable, it might need Sims 4 Studio changes, etc.
