@gracemking Please test a few times in a row with no mods or custom content, as in, move the entire Mods folder to the desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. If you get another crash, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

If you don't get a crash, start testing your mods and cc, but don't just add some of it back, make sure you assign any content you've added to one of the sims you've created. That includes any custom traits if you use them. If you can remember which cc you had just used on a sim when the game did crash, even better—test that cc first and see whether the game crashes again.
There is, unfortunately, no way to find bad mods or cc without testing. The only alternative is to clean out your current collection and stick to newly-downloaded content that's confirmed compatible with the current patch.
I think I figured out a way to avoid this problem. What you do is you go into manage worlds and then click the household that you want to edit and then, once you're done editing, it will allow you to click out. But, after it allows you to, you can see your household's menu, click out of that and click "ESC" and it has the main menu pop up and go and click "Save" and it will save your progress. i have this same problem, but its every time. i tryed it with and with out mods, i made a fresh new game and everything, i updated my drivers even

thats what i did i just tried again and it crashed, i have gshade, and i think im DX11 and im on windows
@MarinaRose If you switch to DX9 does it crash?
@MarinaRose Can we get one other thing for you too? We'd like a lastcrash report. First delete any you already have, then go through the annoying process of crashing again. i'm having the same problem and i've tired testing out all of my mods, updated all my mods, and repaired my game/deleted the local thumb cache file many times. for me it happens 95% of the time when i exit cas, i literally have no idea what to do lol
@ringpopteeth Does it work with no mods/CC? Drag the Mods folder to the desktop or rename it, delete the file called localthumbcache, open the game to test, and exit without saving.
My issue seems to be a coin flip whether it will crash or not when I "x" out without saving changes. I'm not going to put in effort testing without mods or whatever, from the sound of it that doesn't fix whatever it is. Repairing my game doesn't last forever, if it even actually helps at all. I think it only started for me after the latest update, I know there were several kinda close together. I can't imagine it would matter if I'm in fulleditmode or not, but I almost always am. I thought maybe I was confirming the "leaving so soon?" popup window too quickly or something and I started giving it a second to catch up, but it just did it again now. I have never noticed it crashing after clicking the checkmark to save my changes I want to keep, only when I just wanted to preview what a new child would look like as an adult or I wanted to try 46 different hairstyles and then decide I prefer their current look.
