Sims 4 wont start on Mac with any mods in the folder

I haven't played in about 2 months and now when i try open my game it just freezes and never opens. I deleted all the caches, repaired the game, ran app recovery and the only thing that could get my game to start is if i remove all mods. I tried adding them back little by little (i have about 6000!) but i only ended up adding a few 100 and then the game wouldn't start again. Are all my mods just outdated or something, all at the same time? Is there a way to fix this without adding them to the mods folder one at a time, because that's gonna take a while

  • crazynesz You need to start by getting one to work. First, refresh your Mods folder by renaming your current one, starting the game, and exiting. Then download just one item that's confirmed game-compatible in Broken and Updated Mods and CC or that's a recent CC item from a well-known creator (I use peacemaker furniture for this personally). Now can you load?

I'm having the same problem. I've think I've tried just about everything at this point. I couldn't even load my game without the mods. The only thing that works is a completely new game. I've also tried this with mods (just one - the most recent one from Felixandre), but that doesn't work either (and yes, I did enable script mods and everything first)

No, actually I got it to work now, but I can't have them in any folders at all. That's going to take a while to move. And also make it a bit difficult to know what's what. Right now I have them perfectly sorted by creator and series 😥

Hi luthienrising, thanks for your reply! I removed all mods from the folder and put one from Peacemaker in the mods folder and the game will start now. So what should i do now?

I looked at the list with broken mods and doesn't look like i have anything from that list. I only use CC and not game mods.

crazynesz Unfortunately, most broken CC hasn't been reported to me. Here's what I suggest trying next: Take just one CC item from your previous collection and add it. If that doesn't work, remove it and add another to test. We're looking to see if something had corrupted all those files somehow or if you just were adding too many at once, or the were adding the same batch of 100 that had a broken file.

You'll also want the instructions for 50-50 testing in How to Use Mods and CC
