Sims unable to use stoves and ovens amongst other issues

My sims can’t finish cooking due to what I believe to be a bug. Stoves, ovens, microwaves and espresso machines unable to be used. I’m also having issues with laundry not being able to get done and trash/dishes not being to be thrown away or washed. I do use CC and Mods but I’ve already ran a tray scan and they’re all working fine and creating zero conflicts. This has made my game just about unplayable considering my sims are basically starving unless I use the fulfill needs cheat.

Move your Mods folder to the Desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. Then test the game in a new save.
If it works now check for updates to your Mods and CC. Add it back a little at a time while testing until you have found all that are broken.

So I looked at my localthumbcache and that folder was empty. But how do I test a new save? I’ve also checked out all my mods and cc by doing a tray scan and nothing stood out that it was broken or conflicting.

  • @savannah0413 Localthumbcache is a file you can't look at but that needs to be deleted when you remove or replace anything in the Mods folder.

Please do a vanilla test to see if the cause is a mod or CC:

    1. If you use cooking mods, please first delete food and plates in the household you're having this issue in
    2. Save, then exit
    3. Drag the Mods folder to the desktop and delete the file called localthumbcache
    4. Open the game to test, and exit without saving.

If you want to also test a new save, select "New" on the main menu.

Mod conflict detectors are close to useless (I have info about this in How to Use Mods and CC ), and looking at the Tray folder can't tell you anything about gameplay issues.

I’m sorry I’m new to dealing with issues like this, so I’m not quite sure what you mean. When I open my cache folder the only file in there is the spotlight en us one or whatever it’s called. Does that entire folder need to be deleted?

@savannah0413 In Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, there's a file (not folder) named localthumbcache. Delete that every time you remove or replace a mod or CC.
