Sims won't sleep in same bed

My Sims (couple, more than 50% friends, 100%love) won't sleep in the same bed.

Hi, so to get it out of the way, my game is fully updated, I have every buyable thing other than the Starwars themed pack, I used to have a lot of mods but I removed just about all of them other than 4 (which are 4 I've had long before this was an issue) so I don't know if that would be an issue. 

So basically I have a Sims couple who won't sleep in the same bed.  And what keeps happening is one will get in on the right side of the bed, even if they are assigned to the other side, and then the other one will do the little speech bubble that says they can't do something.  So I got pretty annoyed about it and my sim was like in the red for sleep so I deleted the bed and did two twin sized beds.  The one that was able to sleep in the bed previously is able to sleep in a twin bed, but the other one can't.  The whole problem is one just can't sleep in a bed.

I tried removing the character from the household and then putting them back in, which just reset who got to sleep in the bed and then the other person couldn't sleep in a bed.  I did that for both sims.

I've removed most mods (I added two mods today but this became an issue the other day, which I didn't really have any new mods so I don't think that's the issue?)

Not sure what to do lol.  It is annoying me
