What's your favorite mod that no one has ever heard of?

We all know the big mods like MCCC. But what about the ones that you stumble upon in some random corner of the internet and end up being awesome.

Post your little-known (but awesome) mods here! I love finding new ones!

  • Not running my game atm, so I can't check the creators, but a few of my very few mods are
    - stray cats and dogs in any world (I think there will be just up to 3. Mod is old i never updated, but still works fine.
    - Nectar making by Icemunmun I use a lot. Making the nectar and drinking it is fine, but I also have a few retail stores selling it, and I made say one to be a Sulani speciality, only available there. Lots of possibilities.
    - Magazine rack with a good selection of readable magz that adds just a little to your sim's skill. It adds to my sims' personality to see a certain magazine on their coffeetable, and even better to know they can read it. A good thing is that the magz can be bought from any kind of community lot, retail not involved :) (I think the creator is named something like thesimlibrarian)

This mod just changes the science baby option to getting a baby from the Fae. It's pure flavor text, but I kind of love the idea of bargaining with faeries for a baby!

I am definitely downloading that magazine rack!

@GalacticGal For historical gameplay, you might want to try Fashion Authority by Lot51. It lets you assign outfits based on just about anything. (Jobs, location, etc.) I use it to give my teen sims school uniforms for high school.

Not sure if everyone knows this one or not, but one of my recent favorites is SimSim Online store. It lets you order various items from your sims phone. Its really helpful for things you can't normally get in build/buy mode or order from the computer (e.g. the herbalism stuff from Outdoor Retreat)
  • hmm, a mod that no ones ever heard of? oh thats easy, a mod that stops townie generation thats kept up to date
  • I love this oldie but goodie. No instant upgrade delay. If you have the Handy trait from completing the Nerd brain aspiration then you can instantly upgrade items. However there is usually a 24 hour cool down period, this mod removes that, so you can instantly upgrade your whole house full of items in one sim day. The upgrades are quick and requires no upgrade parts ;)

  • A couple I've kept through a Mods folder refresh when I had to start a new save (RIP my old save, 2015-2023!!):

Awwooo's Fruitcake Like/Dislike Mini Overhaul, which makes many fewer Sims have an actual opinion about fruitcake without actually depriving you of fruitcake opinions entirely.

ChippedSims's Functional Radiators. These are just lovely for older houses. The only thing that could make them better would be to be able to lay clothes on them to dry! (I know, we weren't supposed to do that, but we did.)

I'm not sure that nobody talks about it, but I only recently discovered Simvasion's Sink Handwashing Fix. It forces Sims to use a sink to wash their hands that's within 10 tiles of where they are. In other words, it stops Sims walking halfway across the house to a different bathroom to wash their hands.
