When I go to open the Sims, it opens the EA app instead

So I started playing maybe a month or two before the most recent update and I really enjoyed downloading mods and custom content to add to my game. I even bought more storage on my laptop to be able to do so. I also bought like five packs. Now that the game has updated, I've been trying to add my mods and cc back in and it allows me to add maybe like a handful of files. It doesn't matter if I add one at a time or a bunch at a time. After that, the game wont open with all of the cc that I add. It opens the EA app instead. I know that all of the mods work because they all worked fine before the update. Can someone please help? I spent a lot of money on this game and I'm honestly really frustrated.
