I love sims and have been playing it for SO LONG! I have a bunch of the packs and I do have lag issues and issues with the game taking forever to load because of that, but no crashing-thank goodness! However, I’m definitely one of the simmers who builds more than I play in live mode, and with this update it is simply atrocious. I saw someone else mention it, but when I first loaded up the game I noticed the sensitivity of the cursor felt really off. I had it turned up slightly prior to the update and had it where it was comfortable for me to use. After the update I had to turn it way back down. I’m not 100% what the cause of that is but I noticed other people mention it and I had the same issue. I love being able to adjust the screen to the tv and adjust the UI. I play on ps4 and sometimes I use remote play to play it on my phone and it makes it was easier to see things on a smaller screen and then be able to adjust it back when I play on the tv. Great improvement. Next, I loaded into my game. I’ve noticed in one of the recent updates instead of loading into a game to the world select it automatically loads you into live mode and I feel like that is harder on the loading into the game than just loading into world select would be. I think there should be some kind of choice as to wether you load into live mode from your previous game or into world select at the least. As I said before I build in the game more than I play in live mode so the character it makes me load into is just some rando I created and moved in that I’ve never played. So now I have to load into live mode, which I rarely play, and then load to world select. I’m sure some people like that function but as a builder it’s annoying. After loading into the game, I went to world select and went back to the plot I had been building on to test out the new build mode controls. The toggle cursor was the first new function I noticed and had to get used to. I could see the intent in its addition, but I feel it is counterintuitive. Let me walk you through it: you have the cursor toggle off you select from the tab on the left between build, objects by room, objects by function, etc. you select object by room, select the room, then select the item tab. I went to scroll through the menu, but with the toggle cursor off you can’t. So I figured okay I’ll toggle the cursor back on. But it doesn’t take you to the item menu when you turn it back on, it takes you back to the tab on the left where you select between build/object by room/etc. and have to go back through selecting the room, item tab, and then you can actually get to the item menu to scroll. It makes it seem futile to play with the toggle cursor off. Plus, you can no longer close the build item menu like you could before. Then I realized with the toggle off you could manually scroll through the items, but it’s laggy and annoying for players with the cursor sensitivity issues. It actually takes more time than just not using the toggle cursor off. So it all in all feels counterintuitive and is very annoying. But I felt I could work with it. Now any builder knows that your best friend while building complicated builds is to use the move objects cheat. In building I also use the show hidden objects cheat and the ignore gameplay cheat. So like normal, I activate the cheats I use to build. That’s when I noticed the most annoying part that is keeping me now from playing the game. After activating the cheats it was like it bugged out the UI and even with the toggle cursor off, if I pressed L2 to undo or pressed L2 and R2 to resize an object with move objects on it opens the search bar. As a console player I NEVER even use the search bar. As a console player I have gotten more used to navigating the UI and remembering where specific items are. So now I could still hit undo and it worked but also opened the search (which on console opens the separate console keyboard which is slow and why I don’t use the search), but the move objects cheat just completely did not work. At this point I turned off the game and have not been back on as I was much too annoyed and frustrated.
