Everything missing from My Library

On December first I made a household in create-a-sim, when I went to save I was told their was an error and it couldn't save. I checked my PlayStation storage and it had plenty of room, I even deleted somethings in my library to make room just incase. After over an hour I gave up and said goodbye to my hours of work and closed out of the game. Then I got an error and a pop up telling me that there was a problem and asking to report it. I did giving a shorter version of the explanation above. Then I closed out moved on with my day.

Today I opened it up again hoping the problem would have fixed it's self. I was met with a notification that there was corrupted data and it was deleted. I was worried for the save I was playing in but it was just as I left it. I made another quick sim in create-a-sim to test if it was still broken. It saved to my library but when I opened my library it was also the only thing of my creation within it. I have over three years of sims and builds in my Library.

I have sims I don't have in saves and builds I never placed down and may have just lost everything. Could someone tell me if everything is truly gone? Is there anyway I can recover it or prevent this? Should I move to PC if my game isn't safe on console?

Game saves you've uploaded to PlayStation Plus online storage will remain for six months after your subscription ends, so if your membership ended more than six months ago, those saves would not still be stored online for you to access again.

However, if only your library content was corrupt and not any save files, you should be okay to continue playing, you do not need to delete the save files.

    Hi there @TheTuxedoCatSims,

What's the exact error code you're seeing when this happens?

If you're on PS4, you can find that by going to Settings-> System-> Error History.

    For PS5, you'll go to Settings-> System-> System Software-> Error History.

If you have PlayStation Plus, you can try restoring this save data from your online cloud storage to see if it's saved there as well- but that data might be corrupt and unusable also. Those steps vary depending on if you're playing on PS4 or PS5, so please let me know which console you're currently playing with.

  • I am on PlayStation 4, the exact message in history is

    Date 12/2/1022 12:45:04 am

    Error Code CE-34878

    Application CUSA09209

    NAT Type Type 2

    System Software 10.01

Message An error has occurred in the following application. (The Sims 4)

I don't know if you would need the other information but I added it anyways. I looked into getting PlayStation plus to recover my files but don't currently have it. Is there anyway of knowing if the files are also corrupted before buying? Also would recovering these put my game at risk? What might I've done to cause this and what can I do to prevent it in the future?

Thank you so much, I really just want some answers so I can play again I've been too worried to open my game in fear of causing more problems and losing even more.

If you don't have PlayStation Plus already, your save files wouldn't be stored online to recover, that feature is only for PlayStation Plus members.

If this error message continues to pop up for you, I'd recommend running through the steps here to help clear this up.

As for the corruption in your save files- if they haven't been stored online, we won't be able to recover them unfortunately, they'd need to be deleted I'm afraid.

Corrupted save files can occur as a result of a connectivity issue or power loss when the game save file is being created. This can also happen if the console is powered down while still in the process of saving.

In the future to prevent this, I always recommend waiting a minute or two to close the game and power off your console after you've saved so the game has sufficient time to complete the save. In addition, if you have a large number of save files, you may have reached the capacity limit for saves on your console storage. Try reducing the number of save files to be sure no other saves become corrupt.

  • I've had PlayStation plus in the past could anything have been saved as a later version there? Also it was a problem with my library not a save but the error did happen in a save, the game didn't delete that save just everything in my library, do I have to delete that save myself or can I keep it? And after I've done everything is it okay for me to play my game again.
