Game loads with no memory

Many times recently when I load the sims on my xbox, it forgets I've played before. It had me go through the normal set up and then the main menu doesn't have any of my previous saves. The only way to fix it is to turn off the console and reload the sims.

@Caramel_garnish I have seen this before on XBOX. I have also experienced this recently on PS4 during the Reaper's Rewards Event. However, on PS4, my saves did show up because I reloaded them from USB. (Game crashed after 1-3 hours of gameplay though) I hope this is solved.
  • @Caramel_garnish hi there. Is the game asking you to accept the terms and conditions again when starting the game as well? I've seen this happen to a few players recently.

Can you check your account is linked, here are the steps:

    https://help.ea.com/en/help/account/link-your-console-accounts/#how-to

You can also to go to profile.ea.com and see if you have the option to accept the terms and conditions there. Also try resetting your password. I've seen that advice from EA when this happens.

It can happen when an Xbox setting is changed or if there's an accidental switch to a new profile. I've done that myself. I've also seen it happen when most save slots are filled. If you go to Sims 4>Manage Game and Add-ons>Saved Data by selecting Sims 4 on your console home screen with the menu button (3 lines), you should see 2 sets of data. What's the file size next to your gamertag/username?

Can you also make sure that your game and console are updated, steps included here:

@simsplayer818 Regarding your second suggestion, the number next to my gamertag is 82.8 MB, and the number for reserved space is 1.0 GB. I think I only have about 5-6 save files, so I don't think that's the issue, but I also have a third save data with my brother's saves on it. Would that be causing any issues hypothetically? My brother can't access those saves and since I live 3 hours away from him we haven't had the time to troubleshoot it together, so I don't know what's up on his end, just figured I'd mention it.
Thank you for all your help, hope this is able to be resolved soon!

@RoryBear618so you're able to get your saves back okay after restarting? Can I just check if you're being prompted to accept the terms and conditions again? Just to see if this is the same issue as a few other Xbox players have described.

I can't speak to the issue with storing your brother's saves as I haven't done that with Sims 4, just Sims 3 and it was just a small one household save. I never go over 3 saves though personally, currently it's 2 and one is a backup. But I'm adding an Xbox Support help page that might help.

I recommend the Xbox Support App if you don't already have that.

I wonder if it would help to clear locally saved data and do a data sync. It shouldn't be a risk as I do this myself most days and it was recommended to me by Xbox Support. It's just a suggestion but what you would need to do is (while your game is not running) clear that 82.8mb data next to your gamertag/username and be careful to select delete from console only (ignore Reserved Space). Then immediately load up your game. What it should do is sync up with the cloud again and retrieve your game as it's loading. I did see one player mention they lost their saves doing this but they had a different issue in their game and I've never seen it happen myself and have done it hundreds of times. But I just want to add that note of caution just incase of the unlikely event of data being lost. It would usually only happen if someone accidentally hit delete everywhere. It's my goto troubleshooting step.

@simsplayer818 I can confirm I'm getting the terms and conditions message, but it's only when I first load up my game. I typically load it up and then after I get the message I just switch profile and it'll reload the game and all my saves are recovered, it's just a time waster, especially considering the age of my Xbox. I might try a data sync, my only concern is the quality of my wifi, as it's not great and it's had trouble syncing in the past, and I really don't want to lose all my progress. Would wifi quality be an issue regarding a data sync?
Thank you for all your help!

@RoryBear618 Yes if your WiFi drops it could affect a data sync as it needs to access the cloud. So that may have more risk attached to it.
Have you tried going to profile.ea.com and seeing if you can accept the terms and conditions there? Then seeing if it keeps happening in your game. I've seen that advised by EA for a different game.

@RoryBear618 I checked with Xbox Support last night on their app and spoke to someone in live chat. She gave the instructions she thinks will fix the problem so I took a screenshot for you. She said first of all, uninstall and reinstall the game and content. Then follow the steps in the attached screenshot.

She thinks it's an individual Xbox profile corruption problem at this stage.

    Hope this helps.
