game won’t save/erasing saves

i’ve been playing on one save for several generations, every time i go to save the game i either see an error code or it just flat out doesn’t do it. i’ve lost a lot of progress and have rage quit several times. while trying to save over and over again the game has erased other save files and has corrupted all my pictures and paintings. along with these issues, i’ve had several bugs pop up where i can’t cancel an action, or click on a sim to interact with them.
