I have a (how to) on improving the performance of your Xbox and Sims 4

I spoke with Xbox support a few days ago and told them about my sims 4 issues (lag, framerate drops mainly), they were very patient and helpful and together we did about 6 different things to improve the performance of my Xbox and The Sims 4; below is a list of what we did and what you can do:

None of these things will delete your save files, or ruin your Xbox in any way, expect; perhaps if you do them wrong. I've done them all except the last and can say from experience.  Also, most of the things listed here are under settings. you get there by pressing the big button on your controller that take you to the guide then press right until you get to, I think the profile part, and look for settings, I'm not 100% sure as I'm not near my Xbox right now and can't check but probably most of you know how to get to settings anyway.

1. Press guide button go to settings under power options select the Shutdown energy saving option.
2. In settings go to storage devices and clear local saved games, you will not lose any saved data, it will be on the cloud and will sync next time you play.  If you have second thoughts about doing this know that I, did it and everything turned out fine, but if you want to research it on the web first, to see what all of it does and what happens after doing.
3. In settings go to devices and connections or connectivity and select blue ray, select persistent storage, clear that twice, you will not lose any data or game save.  By the way you can do this every month or so.
4. While system is on, hold the power button until the power shuts down, once that happens unplug the power cable, the HDMI cable and the ethernet cable wait about 2 or 3 minutes then plug them back in, wait one more minute turn on console, this one I would also do every few weeks or months.
5. This one read all the way through before starting. Under settings go to system then console info, and reset console keep my games and apps(VERY IMPORTANT that you choose reset console keep my games and apps), If you do the other reset option you will reset your console back to the way it was when you first opened it out of the box, no profile, no games, no saves...so pick reset console keep my games and apps also (VERY IMPORTANT) before you do this process make sure that you can log into your profile on Xbox, that you know your password or you will not be able to log back into your profile and you may not have access to your games and saves, etc. This process takes about 10 minutes.  If you have any questions or concerns about this process, I recommend you do some research on the web first.  But I did it and did not lose any saved data but basically all options that I ever choose in my games were reset to default, not a big problem you can always re-do them.
6. Finally and I did not do this one as it scared me a bit and I need to do more research, but this one may have one of the biggest effects on your game, try reinstalling the game, save your family/your household, your house to the gallery if you would like so you can use them again, but you will probably start the game new but with the sims your created honestly I'm not sure because I did not try this one.

If you have any problems with a game on Xbox contact Xbox support, if you have a problem with The Sims 4 try EA Help and there is also The Sims forum's which is a cool place to visit and start discussing the sims with others. There are a lot of people on there and a lot of various subjects, bugs, etc. to talk about.

Conclusion:  After doing these things (all but the reinstall of game, which may be the most important one) I did notice a minimal improvement in sims 4, lag was reduced, framerate did not stutter as often, and simulation lag I think it's called disappeared for a while, there are still many bugs but they are common among The Sims community and those are because of the development of the game by EA not because the performance of my Xbox....at first when I played; simulation lag (when you give a command to a sim, and they just stand about doing nothing for 20 seconds).  That lag went away completely, but as I kept playing it is slowly creeping back in but not nearly as bad as it was before.  I haven't played a lot of different games since doing this process so I can't say how much overall it has helped, but I can also say that there were no negative effects of doing these processes except many option setting where reset to default and when I first play a game it has to sync up with the cloud which doesn't take long on most games I've played but did take about 3 minutes on The Sims 4.  But this is what the team at Xbox support told me to do, after I told them about my Sims 4 problems.
