Long-Time Console Simmer Hoping for Help Moving to PC
Hi Sims Team,
I’m turning 15 next month. I’ve been playing The Sims since I was 7 years old. I started with Sims Mobile, and when I lost everything after my phone died, I turned to The Sims 4 on console (specifically my PS4, which finally gave out two years ago). Almost six years later, I’ve yet to stop playing.
This game means so much to me. It’s been there during my best moments and my worst. It’s a great escape from reality, and I love every aspect of it. I don’t use my PS5 for anything else—just The Sims 4. Over the years, I’ve saved money from birthdays, chores, and small jobs to buy every expansion, game, and stuff pack, along with over half of the kits. I even bought the base game three times: once after losing the original disc, again when I scratched the second one, and finally digitally. I’ve spent over a thousand dollars—money that took me a long time to earn because I don’t have a job and I’m still just a kid.
But now, the game crashes constantly on console. It’s frustrating—and honestly heartbreaking—because I still want to play, but every time a build vanishes or a family resets, it makes me want to walk away. I want to move to PC, where it runs better and gives more freedom, but I can’t afford to buy all the content again. If I could, I probably would’ve already bought the new Business and Hobbies expansion.
I know this is a long shot. I know there’s no official cross-platform support for packs. But I’m not asking for a whole system to change (although that’d help a lot of people). I’m just asking for help in my situation. I’ve been a loyal player since I was a little kid. I just want to keep playing the game I’ve grown up with—without losing everything I’ve worked so hard to get.
If there’s any way to transfer my packs to PC, I would be so grateful. And I promise I’ll keep buying new packs for years if I can just start again without starting from scratch.
Thank you for listening. This game has been a huge part of my life, and I really hope you’ll consider helping me. I don’t have $1,194.23, and I don’t want to lose some of my early access content either.
With all my heart,
A Lifelong Simmer
y89km1juvgwh the PC game and PS game are completely different products so no they don't transfer, it's not possible and it's not within EA's control as console content is under the control of PlayStation and Microsoft. I'm on Xbox Series X and as mumofharry says, I'd definitely check the number of save files and clear some out. I never run more than 2 or 3, I have all packs.
Also, in game storage management makes a big difference. So if you have a lot of Sims/Households it helps to clear their personal and household inventories. I even empty their fridges before switching households. I got a tip from Xbox Support to empty my library too. I rarely keep more than a few items in there. So if your Sims and Builds have filled up the library I'd clear some of those too, also the premade library items that are there already. Other Households can fill up too as the game generates a lot of townies and I clear new ones out daily or my game will lag and might even crash. Lately I'm finding the game is generating way too many of them. You could try having a good clear out of these and see if your game runs better. It's such a big game to run even on a next gen console and it's set to get even bigger, I must admit I crossed my fingers and held my breath adding the new kits last week 😨.
