Sims 4 - ps4 edition won’t open on ps5

So recently I’ve wanted to get back into playing the sims 4 so I installed it onto my ps5 along with two expansion packs I owned. I went to load up the game and the title screen - “The Sims 4” - did not give me an option to press x to continue. The screen had frozen with the music still playing but my controller had been locked out and I couldn’t progress no matter what button i pressed.

I went to look online and followed all advice I’d found - I deleted and reinstalled the game multiple times, with and without expansions, I cleared saved data and reinstalled to no avail, I even turned my console off, restarted it, activated safe mode but nothing I saw online and tried personally worked at all. It’s a shame really because I was looking forward to buying and trying out expansion packs I hadn’t bought yet.

I hope this will be fixed soon as the game is - quite literally - unplayable on the ps5 for me right now. This is all on the most recent version of the game too on the 5th of January 2024.

    Hello @P20dylans

Are you seeing any specific error codes or error messages when this happens? From the main menu of your PS5, please head to Settings-> System-> System Software-> Error History and let me know what you see there.

I’ve just check the error history and there’s no issues coming up as far as I can see. I checked the information for the game and it says the startup is eligible but it still wont allow me to get past the opening screen

    @P20dylans

Thanks for these details, please run through all the following steps:

Turn off Your system completely, let it sit for a few minutes and power it back on.

Check that your game is fully updated:

    • Go to the PlayStation home screen.
    • Highlight the game you're playing and press the Options button on your controller.
    • Select "Check For Update" and install any updates that are available.
    • Restart the Console completely.

Make sure your console system software is up to date

    • Select Settings at the top of the PlayStation home screen.
    • Choose "System Software Update" and allow any system updates to install.
    • Reboot your PlayStation.

    Uninstall and Reinstall the game:

    • Go to Settings > Application Saved Data Management > Saved Data in System Storage > Delete.
    • Select a game or application.
    • Set check marks beside the data you wish to delete or Select All.
    • Select Delete > then OK to confirm your decision.

Restore the licenses on your console

I’ve tried all of this and I still cannot access the game. It won’t allow me past the opening screen and will just freeze on this screen here
