Wedding event panel wont go away.. sims can’t get married, only elope.

In my current save my sim was trying to marry the grim reaper (done before w no issues), got thru everything fine and then when it was time for the event to start, Grim wouldn’t show up. Inviting him over to the lot wouldn’t work, I couldn’t cancel the event (it would ask if i’m sure I want to cancel and i hit yes, and nothing changes). at this point I assume ‘okay ill just make them get married again after this runs out on its own’. Grim wouldn’t come to my house until after the wedding was suppose to be over, and then I couldn’t plan a wedding because it kept saying there was already an event happening, but eloping was the only thing that worked. i’ve played probably 20 sim days since, and the event panel is still there. 

when i restart the game it still says the wedding is happening, i cant make it go away. i cant plan any other event, and sometimes it wont let me travel because of the event. 

please help:(
