So I've had Sims 4 since it came out with no problems but after the most recent origin update I can no longer play it. Every time I try to start it up it crashes instantly and my entire computer freezes up and I have to force restart it each time.
I've been trying to research different ways to fix it and I have tried the following:
Uninstalling and reinstalling Origin. This did absolutely nothing.
Removing my Sims 4 folder out of my EA folder to create a new game. This is the closest to fixing it that I have gotten so far. I managed to load it up, start a new game, and make a new sim this way, but as soon as I put them in a lot, the game crashed and went back to not letting me use it.
Turned off Origin Helper Service and Origin In-Game from my Origin settings. I have no idea what the purpose of this was but it was suggested by someone else so I tried it. It still crashed but it took about ten seconds longer to freeze up so I guess it helped slightly?
Changed my game so it will always open in a windowed screen. It didn't help at all.
Move the "options.ini" folder out of the Sims 4 folder. All that did was make it crash in full screen instead of crashing in a windowed screen.
I have heard that Sims 4 is no longer compatible with my macOS (El Capitan) but I'm hoping that is not the case as I really do not want to update my OS.
If anyone can help me with this, I would be greatly appreciative.
