@Bluebellflora Yup, I disabled it when I created the symlink and haven't turned it back on since.

Ok. Check your external drive name in Disk Utility is exactly the same as the one you used in the symlink. Maybe trashing the symlink and redoing it will work? If drives aren't properly ejected the OS can sometimes append a number after the drive name. This would result in the game not successfully being able to access the Sims 4 folder (it's all about permissions 🙂 )
