All expansion/game/stuff packs not running through SSD

So I've had two laptops, and on the first one (windows) I had the sims 4 base game downloaded on the laptop, and everything else on the SSD, but not the EA folder or game files or anything. Just the expansion packs. Its all already on the SSD.

Now I have a Mac, and I wanted to download the sims onto it. So I downloaded the base game onto the SSD through the Mac (base game not initially on the SSD, only on the original laptop). This was fine. however, it attempted to re redownload all of the expansion packs and stuff onto the SSD. Confused, because they're all already on it, I cancelled all those downloads and attempted to play the game. But it's not registering that all the packs are on the SSD. How can I fix this? Obviously a solution I want to avoid is deleting it all off the SSD (don't worry ive got multiple copies of all my saves) and redownloading it onto the SSD but it's already there - why should it need to redownload it?

Currently on the SSD I now have the sims 4 base game, a copy of all the data for the packs and then a second copy of all the packs from where it attempted to download it. I am not the most tech savvy so this is beyond me, and I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance.

The game has no idea that the packs are there. There is no need to delete everything just install to the same location.

Do you have a Sims 4 packs folder in the exact same location as the base game on the external? Wherever you choose to have the game installed, it should look like this, just with a different file path:
