Allocate more RAM to sims 3

Hello,

I understand by default the game allocated 2GB of RAM usage while playing. However, this creates far too many problems in terms of lag and the dreaded error code 12. I have 8GB of RAM in total, and would like to dedicate 4GB to the game, does anybody know how to do this on a mac? It is a different world to Windows.

PS. Constantly deleting cache files and purging my RAM makes little difference.

It is not possible as the Mac version of Sims 3 will only recognise 2Gb RAM. The LAA issue was fixed in a patch many years ago for Windows users so the game could access 4Gb RAM but EA never applied the same fix to the Mac version. Playing in Windows on your Mac will hugely improve things but you will need to get a copy of Windows.
