My game gets stuck on the first loading screen when launching the game. I get the plumbob to pop up beside the title and my cursor would go from regular black cursor to the white in-game one. And immediately after, the cursor turns into the colorful pinwheel that keeps spinning. And no matter how long I leave it (tested it multiple times, leaving it undisturbed for over 30 mins at one point), the only thing I can do is click on the sims icon in my display bar to see that the application stopped responding and all I can do is "Force Quit". This was happening before the latest update and it took about 7-10 re-launches to get the game to actually take me to the main page to resume or load a game. But after the update from a couple of days ago, the game doesn't load at all. Model: M1 MacBook ProYear: 2020MacOS version: Sonoma 14.5Memory: 8 GBStorage available: 24.35 GB

I had the same problem but I found out that it was my saves folder that was messing it up. Just remove the folder and put each save back in one by one to test out and find the culprit.

Sorry I should have been more specific. The Finder window needs to be in list view, not tiles (edited OP to add this info). But you haven't properly tested a clean game. Instructions are clear in the opening post, no. 2.
