Forum Discussion
Hi, I would also like to add to this thread. I updated my game yesterday and was experiencing it crashing whilst on the loading screen. I repaired the game with no luck. I've created a vanilla game in which I was able to get into build and CAS (haven't gone all the way to live mode as the issue so far appears to be with loading saves). I've slowly been adding saves back in but my main save from 2017 seems to be the main culprit which is slightly (highly) worrying. Is there anything I can do to repair/save my 'main save' file?
Model: MacBook Air 2018
Mac OS: Sonoma 14.7.5
Memory: 8GB 2133MHz LPDDR3
Storage available: 43.92GB of 250.69 GB
Here are the screenshots of my new vanilla game and my previous The Sims 4 file (now dubbed OLD)
Thanks!!

Thanks! All that info is hugely helpful :) I wonder if you're experiencing this new bug - Crashes on Mainmenu | EA Forums - 12139111
If you think you are, EA_Cade is asking for saves in that thread. Could you upload your save to a file sharing site and PM me a link for me to test too please on may Mac 🙂
Presumably those lastCrash reports in the new folder are from you testing your existing saves? Could you copy/paste the contents of the most recent here?- olivia_luc7 months agoNew Novice
Ooo will do, any recommendations for file sharing sites?
The last crash report in my vanilla save is definitely from that initial save. I tried using one of my slot_00000002.save instead of my .verX saves. I tried restoring my most recent .verX and it immediately reverted back to the crash state.
Uploaded my last crash to chatGPT with it coming to the summary of an internal bug with EA
- Graphics Driver or GPU Rendering Issue
- Rendering or memory allocation failures at launch
- Often triggered by OS + GPU driver mismatches or unsupported shader callsThe report is below 🙂

Ooo will do! Do you have any recommended file sharing sites?
The lastCrash reports are definitely linked to my last opened save. I tried to restore my save using the most recent .verX by changing it back to a .save and immediately had my game crashing again
I asked chatGPT for its thoughts on the lastCrash reports and it said it looked like an internal EA issue. This is what it had to say:
- Graphics Driver or GPU Rendering Issue
- Rendering or memory allocation failures at launch
- Often triggered by OS + GPU driver mismatches or unsupported shader callsSo looks like there is something to do with the rendering of the load menu page of the last most recent save? Based on the above forum

Google Drive is good, or Dropbox, any really.
So looks like there is something to do with the rendering of the load menu page of the last most recent save? Based on the above forum
Yes. I think if you start with a clean Sims 4 folder, start a new game, save and quit, then copy your broken save into the new saves folder, alongside the new save you just created then load the game, you should be able to then choose your old save to load as the new save will be the one the game selects as the “resume game” file. But I’m not tracking the bug so that’s a very brief and limited description of my understanding of a workaround. That’s also why I’m interested to test your save :) but if you think that is your issue you should definitely send EA_Cade your save file too.
