Interactions Won't Load on Sims 4

I just redownloaded The Sims 4 on my MacBook Pro last night and the game worked fine for the first few hours until suddenly the game "froze". The sims were all locked into the activities that they were doing, but I couldn't switch what sim I was playing with and I couldn't interact with anything. The menu buttons still work and I can go into build mode, but it's like live mode is frozen. If I try to exit out to the main menu or save the game, the game gets stuck on the loading screen or the save screen. 

I've tried restarting the game, restarting my laptop, turning on laptop mode, uninstalling and reinstalling the game (and backing up my save file), and "repairing" the game in Origin, but the problem still exists. I also don't have any mods installed. 

I'm currently using a 2020 MacBook Pro with an M1 chip if that helps. It's running on Ventura.
