Lost All Saved Games and Gallery Households After Latest Sims 4 Update – Help!

After my latest update — 25.09.24 — of The Sims 4 on PC (Mac) via the EA app, all of my saved games are gone, and it’s as if I’ve never played before. I’ve done many updates in the past without any issues since they were required before playing, but now, all my saved games and all the households and lots that I've created and saved in the gallery over the years are missing. That’s 5 years of active playing, completely gone…

I’m not a tech person, and I’m struggling to find help on the forum. Unfortunately, EA Help has been useless — they shut down my chat and case before I got any real assistance. In the end, they just told me to try here. Is there anyone who can help guide me through this and fix it? Please, help!

Please open Terminal (Applications > Utilities) and copy and paste the following command then hit Enter/Return:

    find ~ -type f -name "*Slot_*" 2>/dev/null

After a little while it will return the results of the search. You'll know when it's finished searching because the command prompt will reappear. Please copy and paste the results in a post here.

If you're not getting any results from that search, and you've let it run for a good 10 minutes or so, try this one:

    find / -type f -name "*Slot_*" 2>/dev/null

If you don't get any results from that it means you've managed to inadvertently wipe all your save games. This would have been user error, the game and EA App/Origin would not have done this.

The exact same thing has happened to me right now, I can see my saves in the sims document. Yet when I sign in my only option is to recreate a new game

@Bluebellflora I don't know where to find Terminal, is it in the game or on my PC? I'm so lost when it comes to this – can you guide me more specific?
