New June Patch Broke Sims 4 on Mac (M2 not recognized, Metal 0.0.0.0)

After the most recent June 2025 patch, my Sims 4 performance on Mac tanked. I’m using an M2 MacBook Pro that previously ran the game smoothly.

Now it’s unplayable:

  • CC fades or disappears
  • UI is laggy
  • Zooming stutters
  • Game is sluggish in live mode

This wasn’t happening before the patch. What changed? Is EA no longer supporting Apple Silicon natively? Mac users have no option to switch to DX11 or Vulkan, so if Metal support breaks, the game becomes unplayable.

Please escalate this to the dev team.

Here’s what my Config.log shows:

=== Rating info ===
GPU: 5 GPU Memory: 4 CPU: 4 RAM: 4 CPU Speed: 3200 Threading: 3
Adjusted CPU: 4800 RAM: 16384 OS Version: 23.0.0

=== Graphics device info ===
Graphics device ID: 0x0000
Graphics driver: Apple M2
Graphics card name: Apple M2
Driver version: 0.0.0.0
Metal driver version: 0.0.0.0
Graphics memory: 4096 MB
Hardware TnL: 0

This was not the case before the update. The game previously ran fine and fully used the GPU.

    The game runs fine on Mac still.  You've stated "M2 not recognized", where is the error message you are receiving this?

    Info from my Config.log to compare to yours although you seem to have different info, did you copy and paste select sections and change the description? Could you please copy/paste exactly as shown in the file, like I have done below, this time including the Version no, from the top. Or, if yours looks different, please screenshot the info.

    The game runs absolutely fine on both of these machines.
