You won't be running legacy Edition 🙂 Try the Origin reset tool - https://help.ea.com/en-gb/help/origin/origin/how-to-reset-origin-on-mac/
Repairing the game may help too, right click on it in your Origin games library and select repair game.

No, I'm not sure what you mean. The only thing I pulled over was my saves and the cashe and tray folders were empty. I'm a bit scared I might break my game if i fiddle to much without knowing what im doing.

Go into Documents > Electronic Arts and move your Sims 4 folder to the desktop then relaunch the game. It will be like new as your saves will be in the folder you moved to the desktop. Start a new game and see if you can connect to the gallery.
