Sims 4 - Broken Expansion Packs

Two days ago I redownloaded the Sims 4 after not having played the game in years. When I started a new game, most of the clothes from the expansion packs I had appeared as broken. I have no mods and the base game items all appear fine. I haven't tried testing the gameplay yet since I've been trying to fix the issue with the expansion pack items. I've tried the factory reset route with renaming the Sims file and that didn't do anything. I have the game downloaded on an external hard drive along with the "Sims 4 Packs" folder, and my Electronic Arts folder is directly on the laptop hard drive. I'd appreciate any help/advice on how to potentially fix this issue, thanks.
