sims 4 legacy - cc error (user data directory??)

today i installed sims 4 legacy edition for my mid-2011 imac, and tried to go into the sims using my old custom content folder from regular sims 4 (used before legacy was released, totally fine at that point) and this is the message i receive:

Unable to migrate the user data directory to Legacy Edition. The Sims 4 Legacy Edition will continue with new data. Visit help.ea.com for more information.

it then launches the sims 4, creating a totally new folder in finder's document tab, containing none of the saves/custom content that my actual legacy folder (and backup) contains.

i have duplicated and moved the installer.plist folder as demonstrated elsewhere on here, and my saves, cache and tray.

any fixes??

i love the sims, and want to continue playing.

    Please could you click on your Mods folder, where your actually CC is, once to select it then go to File > Get Info. Under the General > Where section near the top of the info window please copy and paste the location of your Mods folder here.

    Move that Sims 4 Legacy folder in Documents > Electronic Arts to your desktop and launch the game to create a new one. Close the game without saving and move the contents, not the folder but just the contents, of your moved saves folder into the newly created one. Launch the game to check it loads the saves as it should. Now do the same with the Mods files.

    same thing happened, unfortunately. it created another new folder and version of itself and launched that one. it didn't have a single one of my saves, either. got same message as top post. sorry to keep bothering you with this.

    macOS sierra

    version 10.12.6***

    imac (21.5-inch, mid 2011)

    processor 2.5 GHz intel core i5

    memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

    startup disk macintosh HD

    graphics AMD radeon HD 6750M 512 MB

    ***my family have been unable to update sierra, we won't get into that but it crashes our mac for a while every time we try

    and the other part oops

    are you attempting to play the normal version of the game or the legacy edition? legacy

    are you running any antivirus? SOPHOS

    have you tried to repair the game in origin? right click on the game in my games and select repair game. no oops. will do that and add to this thread

    do you use CC/mods? if so, have you tried removing them and seeing if that fixes your problem? yes and yes. it did not fix the problem.

    Thanks 🙂 Do you have iCloud Drive set up to store your Documents folder in the cloud? You can check in System Preferences > iCloud. If you do could you please check how much storage is left on your Mac?
