sims 4 stuck on finalizing

Hi, I recently bought an external hard drive for my Sims 4 game so I could get more storage on my MAC. I successfully moved my Electronic Arts folder on the hard drive and all i had to do was to uninstall the game and reinstall it on the hard drive but it gets stuck on the finalizing step...

I would appreciate some help.

    Ok. If you:

    1. Quit Origin
    2. Restart your Mac
    3. Open Finder and navigate to the external drive
    4. Open the Sims 4 Packs folder and wait for it to populate the folders
    5. Open Origin
    6. Attempt to launch your game by double clicking the base game app on the external drive

    what happens?

    Are you attempting to install the game on the external drive, or the Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 folder, or both?

    Did you create a symlink to store the Electronic Arts folder on the external drive?

    I did create a symlink to store the Electronic Arts folder on the external drive and yes, i am attempting to install the game only on the hard drive.
