The sims 4 runs for a few minutes then crashes on Mac

I have been having issues with the sims 4 for months now!! These issues started in late February of 2022. Whenever I start to run the Sims 4 it will run for around 6 minutes then it crashes and leaves me to force quit the application. I used to be able to fix the issues by repairing the game but now that doesn't work. I have tried playing with and without mods but it still crashes!! I've also tried where nothing else on my computer is running except the sims and origin but it still crashes. I also have deleted cache files. I've tried suggestions from other posts and youtube tutorials. If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it!!

    What cache files did you clear? I never really understand why Mac users say this, it's not a Windows PC.

    My computer is on MacOSCatalina, version 10.15.7, the model is a Macbook air 13-inch from 2017, it has an i5 processor, 8 GB 1600 MHz of memory, Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 MB. I have been attempting to play the normal version of the game. I'm not running any antivirus. I've tried to repair the game multiple times but it still crashes. I've tried removing my mods and cc but it still crashes. I've also tried uninstalling but that didn't fix it either. I tried moving my sims 4 folder out so the game could regenerate a new one but it still crashed after I opened the game. I also tried disabling origin but the game crashed. I cleared all the cache files in the cache folder. I hope that helps!

    Is there a lastCrash file in the Sims 4 folder? If so, could you copy and paste the contents in a post here please.

    Those are just jpegs in the cache folder, the worst they can do is take up space on your Mac.

    Hmm. Bit of a worry that it won't even play a completely clean game with a new TS4 folder. You didn't move over any of the contents of your existing TS4 folder such as saves?

    At what exact point during the game process is it quitting? Before it gets to the main menu? After you try to load a save? In CAS? In build mode? Live mode? With a specific family? On a particular lot?

    What is your computer setup? Do you play with your Mac on your lap? On a hard surface? Elevated? With an external display?

    Right now all my saves are out of my game. I haven't moved them back in the game yet. When the game crashes it docent really crash at like a specific point. It crashes about 5-7 minutes after I've pressed play from my origin games library. Most of the time its in CAS or in game. I've left the game on the home screen and it crashes too. Ive played with a few new and old saves that are on different lots and they still crash. Most of the time when I play my Mac is on my lap but I've also tried on a flat surface and it still crashes.

    Sounds like it's protecting itself from overheating, especially if you are playing on your lap. Even on a hard surface and it can get too hot. MacBook Airs don't have enough cooling and low powered chips so the more the machine struggles to render and run the game, the hotter it will get. The OS will throttle the power to try and reduce the heat and potential damage but for a 5 year old Mac, it may be that the parts are already slightly damaged so the Mac is protecting itself and closing the game.

    You could try reducing all in-game settings to the lowest possible to see if that helps.
