Ok.
- make sure both drives are plugged in and EA App is closed
- open EA App and change the installation location in EA App > Settings > Download from the 128GB drive to the 500GB drive
- download the game in EA App
- drag and drop the Electronic Arts folder that contains the Sims 4 folder from the 128GB drive to the 500GB drive
- once it has finished copying the Electronic Arts folder trash the symlink in your Documents folder (the folder with the little arrow)
- create the symlink from the Documents folder to the 500GB drive

Since I have no storage on my computer, all of them are stored in the same place in the current 128 gb external drive.
EA App - is the client used to enable you to access, download, install and play your EA games. This should be installed on your Mac in the Applications folder.
The Sims 4 game - this is installed wherever you choose to install it as directed in the EA App > Settings > Download. The Sims 4 user data folder - this is the folder that contains your saves, mods, etc. all the user data that makes your game unique to you.
Please tell me where each of the above 3 is currently located.

I’m slightly confused but the installation location of the game is in the new drive. I guess I’m referring to the electronic arts folder and the ea app since I can’t get either running on the new drive since everything is located on the 128 gb drive if that makes since. I’m not that good with tech so I honestly don’t really understand how to explain or how to respond.
Yes, I understand but my question is really simple.
Are you referring to the game installation as downloaded and launched from EA App? What is the installation location of The Sims 4 game app?
Or are you referring to the Electronic Arts/The Sims 4 folder that contains your user data? You reference Mods but a lot of users are under the mistaken impression that the game installation and their Sims 4 user data folder are one and the same thing when they are completely separate.
Just referring to "The game" is ambiguous.

Ok so when I mean transferring my game I mean this. I originally transferred my game to a 128 gn external drive because I lost storage on my computer. Then after a little while, I ended up losing storage on that external drive so I bought a 500 gb one. I was wondering if I could transfer my gabe from the 128 gb external drive to the 500 gb one while keeping all of my mods and everything. I tried making a symlink and everything to the 500 gb one but then I realized since the 128 gb drive wasn’t plugged in and can’t be plugged in at the same time, it wouldn’t work so that’s where I need a solution.
When you say "I tried transferring my game" what are you referring to? The game installation or your Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 folder?

so it’s pretty much impossible to do a symlink with no electronic arts folder or anything in the computer
The point of the symlink in this situation is to NOT have the Electronic Arts folder on the computer. A symlink (symbolic link) is a soft link created to the actual data stored elsewhere. The Electronic Arts folder is moved to the external and you create a symlink in the Documents folder to it. The symlink only works if the external drive is plugged in, otherwise there is no Electronic Arts folder and the symlink is broken.

Ok so I tried transferring my game from one external hard drive to another external hard drive and it didn’t work. I also can’t plug in both at the same time so it’s pretty much impossible to do a symlink with no electronic arts folder or anything in the computer since it’s stored in the currently used drive.
If you want to store the Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 folder on the new external as well then yes.

Ok should I do the steps of making a symlink and everything?
