I bought the game june 2016 and I've never been able to open it, since origin keeps telling me that "the sims 4 is already running" with the errorcode:

I've already tried reinstalling origin and resetting it. I've checked my task manager and it is not running. I've gotten a new macbook (the touchbar one) and it still tells me that the sims 4 is already running. Help me, please

Every time I enter Origin to play Sims, I receive the below detailed error stating that Sims 4 is already running. I have found and deleted the .dmg file from my Applications folder and Finder for both Sims 4 and Origin as well as all the expansion packs I have bought, Sims 4 is not running in the background (I checked Activity Monitor), I have restarted/shut down my laptop probably 3-4 times, cleared cache, repaired the game within Origin... nothing. I've looked all over before posting here and tried all of the suggestions from previous solved posts but to no avail. I even called EA support... still can't run Sims. Any help is greatly appreciated.

i saw someone else say and it worked for me:
'"The game already running error" is often a permissions issue. Look in System Settings/Preferences > Privacy & Security and make sure the game has access to the Documents folder.'
hope this helps
