Unable to start: The Sims 4 is already running - Mac only

If you're experiencing this error message it doesn't mean your game is already running, the actual message itself is incorrect. It means The Sims 4 cannot access the Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 fold...

Hi @Bluebellflora !

so I finally was able to get enough space on my original computer disc and download the game straight onto my computer. 

However when I went to launch the game I got this message:


“Error unable to start, the Sims 4 is already running.

[ed35e0ea:29f00e76:00000000:18a1dd51]” 

Any idea on what this could be about now?!
