Wrong Video Card?

Hi there!

I've had the sims 4 on my laptop for a while now, just over half a year. I last played it in December, when my laptop charger broke. I recently recieved my new charger, so I'm able to access my game now. Unfortunately, when I booted up Origin it refused to open. After two weeks, I finally got it to open. I had to redownload sims 4, and then the legacy edition, but when I started the game, an error popped up about my video card (I've linked it to the side). I've never changed the card, and the sims has ran on it before, so why has it stopped working now, and how do I fix it? (I've also liked my mac's system)

I have a Macbook Pro 2017, and I was prompted to download the Legacy version. When I did, my game now refuses to open, and I get an error that says something about my video card. The sims 4 has run on my laptop before, so I don't know why it's doing this.

@KattheHunter01 I can already figure out that your system does not require Legacy Edition. Legacy Edition is made for Mac models that do not run Metal, which would be anything before 2011-2012, and it will not be able to launch on any system that runs Metal. You'll have to find a way to get rid of Legacy, then you should be fine.

@AriaMad2I uninstalled the sims 4, then downloaded it without the legacy edition. However an error appeared, which can be seen in the attached screenshot. Does this mean I actually need the legacy edition?

No, you don't need the LE. Could you please open the config.log file and c/p all the info under the === Graphics device info === section, it's about 13 lines.

@Bluebellflora So I found the config.log file, but there was only two lines of information. Have I found the wrong folder?

How interesting! Do you not have a Sims 4 folder anywhere, only the Legacy Edition folder? Could you check for another file:

Right click on the game in your Applications folder and select Show Package Contents. Navigate through Contents > MacOS, is there another file in there called Sims 4? Could you screenshot what is in there and post it here?

@Bluebellflora I managed to open the sims package contents, here's what I found.

Can you please go into the MacOS folder and screenshot it, it is below the info.plist.

@Bluebellflora I got the screenshot of the MacOS folder, however I am unable to click on the content inside. When I try to, the finder window closes.

Ok. Could you right click on that MacOS folder and click Move to Bin to trash it. Then load up Origin, right click on the game and select Repair. That should download a fresh folder. Now try and load the game.
