7/23 Update messed up my mouse

@Shennain  Are you running the game in DirectX 9 or 11 mode, and does it help to switch?  Fullscreen or windowed, and does it help to switch?

I have a G502 HERO (SE) myself and it has no problems. If it happens again turn the mouse and look at the laser hole. Is there any dirt there? If so that will cause what you describe.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Cursor is bouncing to other monitor.
What happens when the bug occurs? I’m using a laptop with a monitor attached, with sims 4 open in windowed mode on the monitor. When I move the cursor to the right side of the screen (display 2), the cursor jumps to the middle of my laptop screen (display 1). If I have the sims in windowed mode on my laptop (display 1), this doesn’t happen. All other apps and programs are working perfectly without this issue, and I have always been able to play the sims this way with no problems prior to this update.
What do you expect to see? I expect to be able to use my second (much larger) screen without issue.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes

I’ve restarted the computer and the game multiple times and still having the same issue. Mods and CC were all removed prior to updating the game.

I’m having a similar issue - cursor is jumping to my other screen constantly. This has only started since the update yesterday, was working fine prior to the update, and my mouse is working fine with all other apps and programs still. So I can only assume this is a sims 4 issue and not an issue with my mouse.

@puzzlezaddict- Thanks for your reply. I believe the game runs in DX11, I didn't check before uninstalling the client, nor did I check whether the issue stays between fullscreen or windowed mode. I was only playing The Sims 4 for less than two minutes before I shut it down. My immediate thought was that the update was the cause of the issue as prior to installing it, like within an hour, I was playing other games that run in DX11 and browsing the web with no issues with my mouse. So I just uninstalled it and it fixed the issue.

@jpkarlsen- Thanks for your reply. As a cat owner whose furbaby often jumps up between me and my monitors to demand attention I understand the hazard of her fur sneaking into the tracker of the mouse. It has happened in the past where it has slightly affected the movement of the cursor, but not to the point where it jumps between monitors, instead it would usually jitter in a small area.

Im not sure whether I’m using DirectX9 or 11 - slightly older laptop and using base settings, I have no idea how to check these things. 
I don’t have the same issue in full screen mode - I can’t seem to use my second monitor in full screen mode though, and playing on my laptop screen is similar to playing on a phone after using a huge monitor for years 😉 .

I have checked my mouse to make sure it’s clean, although I would expect it to affect everything I do and not just the sims if that were the issue.

@emurphy07  If you haven't specified that the game run in DX11 mode, you're probably running DX9.  But to make sure, you can check the version in the lower-right corner of the Main Menu.

Uninstalling and reinstalling helped the other player in this thread, so I'd suggest that if your download times aren't too bad.  Otherwise, clear the EA App's cache and repair the game, which is not as thorough as an uninstall but will be a lot faster.

I just wanted to note that I haven't reinstalled The Sims 4 to see if it is still an issue. I am starting to download and reinstall it again pack by pack to see if this bug is linked to an update of one particular add-on or the base client, or something-or-other. I'm not super tech-savvy, just trying out stuff until something sticks lol 😳

I will be sure to look at what version of DX I'm running while I'm testing things, although it may take a while to get that info as I'm battling a TV for bandwidth via wifi.

Hi @puzzlezaddict , I tried clearing the cache and repairing the game which didn’t help. I then uninstalled and redownloaded the game - took what felt like 5 years - still having the same issue with my cursor jumping to the other screen, but also now jumping to the middle of the screen even if I use my laptop display (only in windowed mode though, full screen works). Still having no issues with the cursor outside of the sims.
