accidentally deleted sims 4 folder

i accidentally deleted my whole sims 4 folder and im currently reinstalling it and this is all that shows in the folder can anybody help me out ? i had everything on an external hard drive but it stopped working so i had to reinstall on my pc

  • @chelisee1  For some reason, you've installed the game's program files into Documents\Electronic Arts.  This will be a serious issue because the game tries to create its user data folder there, and the two folders need to be separate.  Please delete everything in your screenshot, then clear Origin's cache and restart your computer.

Please also stop OneDrive from automatically syncing the content of Documents.  (You may need to do this before you delete the folders in your screenshot.)  You can leave OneDrive enabled and upload files manually, but the auto sync can mess with the Sims 4 user data folder, and it's simpler to prevent it from happening than fix problems that you see later.

Open Origin, hover over your username, select Application Settings, then the Installs & Saves header, and make sure Origin is set to install to Program Files (x86)\Origin Games.  Then download Sims 4, and again make sure it's downloading to the Origin Games folder.

Once the game is installed, you can launch it to create a new user data folder in Documents\Electronic Arts.

@puzzlezaddict This thread was a long time ago, but I'm having similar issues. I think the culprit is OneDrive but I don't know how to stop it from auto-syncing so I can upload manually. The last time I tried to do so it deleted all my files, which is how I started having issues with TS4 in the first place. ):

@ChaucerGeorge  When you unlink OneDrive or prevent it from syncing data, the files and folders OneDrive was syncing are removed from your computer, leaving only the copy in cloud storage.  There are two ways around this.  One is to stop the syncing without unlinking OneDrive, download the files you want to keep, and then unlink if you want to.  (There's no harm in letting OneDrive keep running, but maybe you want it out of the way.)

The other approach is to make a backup copy of your Sims 4 folder, or whatever you're looking to preserve, before making any changes.  You can place the backup on an external drive or USB stick, or simply drop it into a folder that OneDrive doesn't touch, for example Downloads.  Either way, once OneDrive has removed the original copy from your Documents directory, you can restore the backup.

So i  was trying to remove all my mods because when I played the sims today a pop up came up that were saying thet I should relaunch the game. Then when I got in microsoft edge there was a tab where it stod things about mc command center and how i should update it or remove it for the sims to work or something like that. So i figured out that i could remove all my mod instead because I thaught it would be easier that way. So I removed Curseforge wereI download most of my mods and the deleted all my files that seemed to be a mod or something like that in my explorer. Then I restarted my computer and went in on the sims 4 and all of my saves were gone. Is there something I can do to get the saves back. I have spent so much time on my builds and sims that it would be very bad if all of it is gone.......

@7qcx71o4y6ma  Did you delete any files inside the saves folder?  Check your recycle bin, either for a saves folder or for any files that start with Slot_ , which is how Sims 4 saves are named.  Please also let me know whether you see any of these files inside Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves, at least any older than the last time you opened the game.
