went to download a mod https://nieswillsneeze.tumblr.com/post/185725408829/sims-4-replace-water-off-grid-mod-niesit didn't extract when i download it. i accidentally open it with internet explorer, forget about that mod for a minute, its changes some of my other files (might not be the right word to describe them) icons to that internet explorewhat am i to open it with? what were they opening with before i messed up.they don't look right.thanks!

Yes, But it requires resetting all associations. Which means you would manually have to set associations again except for Windows defaults. Probably not worth the hassle but to do so go to Settings, Apps, Default apps then click the Reset button. Instructions are for Windows 10.

I have done this myself, and resetting default app settings as mentioned earlier in the feed hasn't worked. I need to some how revert the .program file back as an unassigned "Open With" program. Also deleting, and redownloading the zip folder doesn't do anything either.

They are .package files and opens with the Sims 4. That you have associated them with Internet Explorer (or more likely Microsoft Edge) does not mean that they will stop working.

under here, choose default app by file type, for packages and partial. they are on internet explore, probably not correct. what do i change them to to make it right?

If you have S4Studio (or even S4PE) installed, you can right-click a .package file to highlight it, then left-click on it while pressing the Left Control key, and the uppermost menu choice should be 'Open With', which will allow you to change the file's program association, then choose either of those programs. (Windows 10)

I also did the same thing and would like to reset it, the problem is it I have no idea what to switch the .package app to. What was the original software called?
