All my Progress has disappeared

After buying and downloading the game I spent hours creating my sims , building their relationships and spending ages building their house. I saved the game and closed the application. The next day i went back onto the game and my progress was all there, but the next day the game needed updating and when i went back onto the game after the update all my progress had been lost and it looked the same way it had when i first started the game after buying it. I have looked in my PCs documents in the Electronic arts folder and saves but there is nothing there. What can I do to restore my progress?

  • @-cdiwnycz-  Then I'm sorry to say, it sounds like your saves are gone.  I don't know why this happens occasionally, although OneDrive failing to sync could be the culprit.  But regardless, the only reliable way to avoid this kind of situation is to make frequent backups of your saves and other critical data so you can restore one if necessary.

  • @-cdiwnycz-  Do you have any Sims 4-related files in OneDrive?  Even if you never (deliberately) use it, OneDrive can automatically sync your files, and it can also remove the local copies when storage is low on your computer.  So please look there for any saves or other user data.

If there's nothing in OneDrive, you can also search your computer for any stray saves.  Open a File Explorer window, click This PC in the left panel, and enter Slot_ in the search field in the upper-right corner.  This should turn up any saves.  If you find one, select it and click the "Open file location" menu button, and you'll land wherever your saves are.  You can then move them back to Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, and the game should read them.

After trying both your suggestions I found an Electronic arts folder within Onedrive which led me to a sims 4 folder which was full of a series of different sub folders including one named saves. However all of the folders were completely empty. Even when I searched for Slot_ nothing was found in either one drive or on the PC.
