Are Earbuds suppose to work like this?

I bought the pack thinking the earbuds would also function like the MP3 player from Sims 3, but it appears as though the earbuds are coded the same (or similar to) how a stereo works in Sims 4. It's seriously disappointing. Sims can't really do anything while "Listening" to music and just turning the earbuds on doesn't give them any special moodlet. Unless you use a mod, actually doing the "Listen to" interaction doesn't even boost the fun motive.

I've tried jogging, painting and some other things. I haven't found anything I can do as multitasking while "Listening" to music on them. I think this was by design, but I think it was also a huge mistake and how they function should have been explained thoroughly from the outset to avoid this confusion and comparison to the MP3 player's functionality in Sims 3.

Edit to add: I find it particularly ironic given the emphasis on multitasking in Sims 4 that Sims are so limited to what they do can while actually "Listening" to music on them, when in real life people multitask all the time in all kinds of ways when using an iPod, but the same could be said for listening to a regular stereo as well.

if you're using the listening interaction, that's pretty much how it works. You can multitask if you just turn them on to a channel or is that also not working for you ?

They can't listen and do anything else at the same time. If they're only able to stand there and listen, what was the point of the earbuds at all? Most interactions that work with a stereo or tv do not work with the headphones. If you mean leave them playing while the sim doesn't listen to them, that makes even less sense since they're not interacting with the headphones and it's just a turned on radio with no one using it.

In a way. It's just very disappointing. I guess I'll just keep using the stereo for now since my sims can do other things with them around and hope it's changed in the future.

EDIT: Just to add, if you turn the earbuds On, the Sim will still listen to them and will be able to multitask.
