Bad textures, Bleeding textures for no apparent reason

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? Version 1.105.354.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Back yard stuff
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I have no idea. I just experienced it shortly after downloading my mods. but deleting them and reinstalling the game should have fixed that. What I was trying to do was use MC command centre to repopulate my world with sims from my library.
What happens when the bug occurs? Hey guys, so I'm currently facing an issue with my sims 4. I've looked for a solution everywhere, to the extent of uninstalling all my mods to uninstalling the entire game itself. So the issue is bad textures and literally no colours on most of the things. Is there a solution anyone knows? (other games run fine so i believe my pc/gpu is not the issue). My settings are on ultra.
What do you expect to see? I want to see fully loaded textures so I can actually implement mods and have fun.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

I attached the files of the screenshots i have of the issue im facing.

  • @GENERALPERERA  This dxdiag has all the relevant info.  I don't know why the first one didn't, but it happens.

At any rate, most of the errors are from other apps that don't have anything to do with Sims 4.  The one obviously problematic error is a serious crash of the graphics driver, so please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver.  Here's how:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

When you're testing Sims 4 again, please don't add back any mods or custom content.  You can test a new save if you prefer, or don't save your progress in an existing save.

If the problem is still present, please post the first 40 or so lines of the Config.log file, inside Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.  (You can stop when you get to Options.)  Feel free to delete your user and computer names, about 20 lines down; the file doesn't contain any other personal information.

Please also look for relevant new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 play session, specifically after reinstalling the graphics driver.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

Check your Graphics settings to ensure Laptop Mode is disabled. If it's not your Graphics settings, then it might be TS4 USER FOLDER corruption.

If I link to my Steam guide, is this gonna get removed? I'm sure these instructions exist here on AHQ somewhere but I'm only ever visiting. I exist Elsweyr.

OH LOOK! Copypaste works... kinda. Edit: I reformatted it to remove the giant spaces.

You should nuke aka "reset" your USER FOLDER after every patch.

    Why? Because. Really? Yes!

But since you insist, NUKING covers multiple troubleshooting tips including Mods folder troubleshooting, deleting your localthumbcache.package file, deleting cache files and folders including the localthumbcache.package file, deleting corrupt configs, clearing old logs, removing rogue SDX, just generally keeping your USER FOLDER tidy.

It has the intended effect of keeping your game running smoothly by eliminating potential USER FOLDER problems proactively.

An important thing to note before we go into the instructions is that you will have to reconfigure any custom in-game settings. Also, doing this resets in-game prompts like the owned DLC popup, tutorials, and resets the very annoying CAS "Contains New Items" prompt.

The instructions look long and complicated but they're really not that complicated.

    1. EXIT the game if it's running.

    2. RENAME your USER FOLDER to "USER FOLDER - Backup".
      1. Alternatively, you can just MOVE your USER FOLDER to another location like your Desktop. Whatever you do, DO NOT DELETE it.
    3. REPAIR or VERIFY INTEGRITY your game files from your Library.

    4. LAUNCH the game, then EXIT the game, then RE-LAUNCH the game again (this is to trigger additional UI elements and the "new pack" popup).

    5. Now reconfigure your Game Options.
      1. Graphics > Laptop Mode = DISABLED
      2. Game Options > Other > Enable Custom Content and Mods = ENABLED
      3. Game Options > Other > Script Mods Allowed = ENABLED
    6. TROUBLESHOOTING STEP
Now create a new household with TWO or more sims and start a NEW GAME.

This is a troubleshooting step for simmers experiencing in-game issues, Mods folder issues, save game issues, etc. This step can be skipped if you're just nuking your folder because tidiness or new patch.

    7. TROUBLESHOOTING STEP
Now play for at least a day and a half in-game time to ensure whatever problem you were encountering isn't still happening.
You shouldn't experience any issues related to:
      1. Your Mods folder.
      2. Corrupt caches including the localthumbcache.package file.
    8. If all is well, EXIT TO Main Menu and DELETE the save game you just created.

For a long time I kept forgetting to add this step.

    9. Now EXIT the game because it's time to migrate your old "- BACKUP" files.

    10. Open the old "USER FOLDER - Backup" and COPY & PASTE the following folders and files to the new USER FOLDER. (I explain these in another section of my guide.)
      1. 📁 Custom Music
      2. 📁 saves
      3. 📁 Screenshots
      4. 📁 Recorded Videos
      5. 📁 Tray
      6. 📄 ExcludedMusic.txt
    11. Migrating the Mods folder gets it's own entry.
      1. Open the OLD Mods folder and DELETE the Resource.cfg file.
      2. Now select everything else inside your OLD Mods folder and COPY & PASTE or CUT & PASTE it into your NEW Mods folder located inside the new USER FOLDER.
      3. If your game fails to launch after migrating your old Mods folder contents then you've got outdated or conflicting mods or custom content.
    12. LAUNCH the game and verify your stuff is in. You can resume playing at the point.
      1. Your mods and custom content should show in the startup Notification.
      2. Your Tray files should show in the CAS Library.
      3. Your old save game(s) should show in the Resume menu.
    13. After verifying all your old user data has been successfully migrated to the new USER FOLDER, you can safely DELETE the OLD "USER FOLDER - Backup"
  • Sorry i dont get ehat you mean by " User folder". Is it just the the sims 4 folder itself?

  • @GENERALPERERA Moving this to the tech forum for troubleshooting

Could you post your Computer's DxDiag?

    - Press Windows-Key + R
    - Type: DxDiag
    - Click on Save all Information.
    - Attach the Text File to your post
  • I know my system isnt the best but it used to run the sims perfectly on 4k with a bunch of mods so i figured its not the issue but here is the file.

@GENERALPERERA Unfortunately there's a lot of stuff missing in that report. Bit unsure what's causing this but could you run it again ?

Someone else will assist you further.

@GENERALPERERAHey, glad to see you got it resolved! It's usually either USER FOLDER issues or GPU drivers. Also I did not realize I didn't include the USER FOLDER / INSTALL FOLDER explanation bit. xD
